How to Find Replacement Wood Balusters
Many homeowners are stumped on how to find replacement wood balusters. An easy way to update or refresh a porch or staircase in your home, is with custom wood elements. Many times this involves the replacement of wooden balusters (also called spindles), columns and/or newel posts. One example of this is pictured below. In this particular case, the client was looking to replace the exterior wood balusters of this Victorian home. They wanted to replicate the look and feel of their 1800’s home.
What’s needed to replace my wood baluster?
We received the below photo, as well as detailed instructions and were able to complete the project. Typically the type of information that is needed is sizing, quantity, specie required and detail of the design from either drawings, CAD drawings, or photographs. If it is possible, a sample part of the old balusters can also be sent. Furthermore, secondary operations are also available when needed such as such as sanding, carving and priming.
You can see below how the updated front porch is absolutely stunning and has increased the curb appeal and the value of the home.
